Amalfi: The most romantic coast in the world
This is the most romantic coast in the world that you must visit at least once in your life.
According to an ancient story, the Roman god Hercules fell in love with a nymph named Amalfi. When she died, he wanted to bury her in what he considered to be the most beautiful place in the world: the Amalfi Coast surrounded by sea and rocks. On her tomb, he had the city of Amalfi built to connect his sense of beauty and immortality with her soul. They say that this beauty lasts to this day and that is why the Amalfi Coast in Italy is considered the most romantic corner of the world to which, at least once in your life, you want to go. With your favorite company, of course.
The poetic Amalfi Coast looks out on the Tyrrhenian Sea, and geographically, on the map, "it protrudes like a language that mocks the rest of the world." Few places on earth are as magical as this region of Italy. Wonderful hotels that hang over high cliffs which are immersed in cobalt blue water. Windy, narrow roads that offer a new spectacular sea view at every turn. And only food and limoncello? This is a typical Mediterranean region of fairy-tale yellow lemons. And they are part of the legend because Hercules, after the death of his nymph with a broken heart planted a beautiful tree of the yellowest lemon on her grave.
The Amalfi Coast or Costiera Amalfitana stretches for about fifty kilometers along the southern Sorrento Peninsula which forms the southern part of the Gulf of Naples, leaving behind the Lattari hills stretching from Mount Picentini to the Tyrrhenian Sea, separating Naples from the Gulf of Salerno.
The main settlement on the coast is Salerno, and the other smaller ones are Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Maiori, Tramonti, Minori, Ravello, Scala, Atrani, Amalfi, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Praiano and Positano. Although they are all relatively close to each other, each of these towns is different, carries its own charm and rich past, and many world faces have chosen them as their resorts.
So Jackie Kennedy loved to spend time with family and friends in Ravello, while in the memoirs of her sister Lee Radziwill, the town of Conca Dei Marini is mentioned as "heaven on earth". Even today, many restaurants on the coast are famous because they were visited by celebrities. Also, Amalfi is known among them as one of the oldest maritime republics and over time it has become a symbol of the entire coast, hence its name. Also, the coast is due to its rough terrain, picturesque beauty, and diversity of settlements, since 1997 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As traditionally romantic people and great lovers, Italians are very proud of their Amalfi Coast as one of the world's most beautiful "love" destinations.
