Apple is reportedly cutting on iPhone 13 production targets in 2021 by as much as 10 million units. The reason for this reduction in production is the prolonged global shortage of chips, which are now beginning to affect Apple's latest line of premium phones, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Apple initially expected to produce 90 million devices from the iPhone 13 family by the end of this year, but will now have to reduce that project to about 80 million devices.
A dip with no chips#Apple may be short on 10 million iPhone 13 models this year as the never-ending chip shortage makes production almost impossible to reach the 90-million mark.

This number has been reduced in part because Broadcom and Texas Instruments cannot deliver enough components on time. Apple buys display chips from Texas Instruments, while Broadcom is Apple's longtime supplier of various wireless components.
Large chipmakers have warned that demand will continue to exceed production until the end of the year, and perhaps beyond, so no market stabilization is expected in the near future.
