Apple's mixed reality headset is postponed
Another analyst predicts that Apple's long-awaited augmented-reality headset for AR and VR applications will not be ready until at least 2023.
Apple has been working on numerous headsets with augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) functions for a long time, according to various rumors, but no formal announcements have been made.
While some industry observers predicted that Apple's mixed reality headset will be released in late 2022, there are now more indicators that it may be released later.
In addition to a high price of more than 2,000 US dollars, this was already rumored at the beginning of the year by the usually well-informed Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
Most recently it was said from this side that the market launch of the headset for Apple's developer conference WWDC 2022 in June was out of the question, but that it will be presented sometime between fall 2022 and summer 2023.
Another analyst, Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, now agrees with this assessment, predicting that the device will not exist until 2023, which is earlier than Gurman's prediction and also rather unexpected.
According to an analyst study accessible at 9to5mac.com, Apple's new headset may encounter "a minor delay for the first quarter of 2023," implying that it was initially scheduled to be delivered in 2022.
According to the expert, Apple will sell between 1 million and 1.5 million copies of the new AR/VR headsets in their first year.
According to the source, the in-house designed chip will be one of the primary differentiators between Apple's mixed reality headset and the competition.
The device is supposed to include more than ten sensors (including cameras), which are said to be supplied by Sony, Will Semi, Sunny Optical, and other companies.
According to reports, while Apple may introduce the device later this year, sales may not begin until early 2023, similar to what the company has done in the past with items such as the Apple Watch and HomePod.
