AyaNeo OLED handheld console - Ryzen APU

Although we have some previous products, it appears that this industry halfway between tiny PCs and portable consoles is undergoing a fresh boom, with the debut of new devices such as the AyaNeo OLED, a smaller, slimmer, and lighter version of the AyaNeo NEXT announced earlier this year.

And it is that, following the initial rumors that pointed to a larger console, it appears that the most recent information shared by the first media to have been able to test this console, including some photographs of it and the initial specifications, points to a range that is slightly lower than expected.

As a result, the AyaNeo OLED will be built on a smaller body that will weigh less than 500 grams. This, however, does not imply that, as the name suggests, we will be looking at a device with a 6-inch OLED panel and a resolution of up to 1080p.

Unfortunately, despite the company finally confirming on its official Discord channel that the console will use an APU from the Ryzen 5000 series, this suggests that the new portable console will lack RDNA2 graphics, falling short of its predecessor and Valve's Steam Deck.

In the absence of official confirmation, rumors are now focusing on the likely processor that would power the AyaNeo OLED. And, based on the previously announced dimensions of this portable console, we could find ourselves with a 12W constraint, implying the potential of using a Ryzen 3 5400U or 5425U processor, therefore remaining below the OneXPlayer Mini.

As a result, it was possible to confirm that the new console would employ an APU based on the Zen3 microarchitecture and AMD Vega graphics. This was corroborated by Twitter user JamesCJ, who had access to a first test version of this console and shared some additional photographs of how it functions in several games.

And it is expected that the AyaNeo OLED would be unveiled in the month of May. AyaNeo has already indicated that a Ryzen 6000 console will be released this year, although it was certainly not expected so soon.

AyaNeo OLED should be more reasonable than AyaNeo Next in terms of pricing, but it won't be as cheap as Steam Deck. As a result, Valve's console will continue to be the only device of its sort available for less than $400 USD and featuring RDNA2 graphics.
