Dwayne Johnson leaves nothing to chance: Plastic weapons will be used on sets of his production house

Dwayne Johnson, 49, said he was ‘overwhelmed' by the news of Halyna Hutchins death on the set of 'Rust’ and that tragedy prompted him to reconsider using firearms while shooting films at his production house Seven Bucks Productions, he said in an interview with Variety magazine.

"One life is lost," said one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors.

"I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you, without an absence of clarity here, that any movie that we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions — any movie, any television show, or anything we do or produce — we won’t use real guns at all,” The Rock said.

From now on, the production house will use prop replica weapons, while special effects will be performed in post-production. “We’re not going to worry about the dollars; we won’t worry about what it costs,” Johnson added.

A real projectile accidentally fired by Baldwin, who was reassured that the weapon was safe, fatally wounded Halyna Hutchins on October 21 and ended up in the shoulder of film director Joel Souza.

Dwayne Johnson, a longtime friend of Alec Baldwin, has also advocated for the launch of new protocols and new security measures in the film industry.

"It’s awful that it had to happen to change anything," he concluded.
