In the end, John Snow knows something. Or rather, Kit Harington knows that today, at the age of 35, he is much more aware and stable.
He lives in London with his wife Rose Leslie (Ygritte in the series) and they have a one-year-old son. The legacy of the “Game of Thrones” series is felt, but Harrington has dedicated himself to the theater and is currently playing Henry V at the Donmar Warehouse Theater. "I was sick of using swords," he jokes, and fortunately this is a modern look at Shakespeare's play. In an interview with The Guardian, the actor referred to the past few years. He talked about introspection, addiction problems, mental health, and the problem that men have with anger.
In 2019, Harington was in rehab to solve his alcohol addiction problem. "It's an egocentric pain," he says of the difficulty of changing lifestyles. He admits it was not an easy path for him, and he spoke in an interview about his fight with depression and anxiety. He has been sober for three years now and is therefore on a good path to recovery.
He said he feels that he is a much more established and stable person. He is really grateful to have sobered up in the long run before having a child. He further explains that he realized that even fame can turn into an addiction, with applause and attention that seems to inflate self-esteem. He said that today he has learned to distance himself from the search for fame and that he is much happier.
According to Harington, men feel a bit lost today. The actor does not like the word toxic masculinity, but he thinks that something is wrong, and the information on attacks and harassment in public places in Great Britain and beyond, confirms that. He says he sees confused men walking the streets. He believes that the big problem is anger, which men are not always taught to manage and which therefore turns into abuse and violence. He said he sees a lot of anger and that he thinks we have to start facing it, both man and society.
