The children of Prince Harry (37) and Meghan Markle (40) are a frequent topic in the media, especially when it comes to their royal titles. Namely, since the birth of Archie, there has been debate about whether he will receive the royal title, and the same topic is now being raised for Lilibet, who was born this year.

After Meghan gave birth to Archie in May 2018, everyone was convinced he would get the title according to the custom of the royal family, but that didn’t happen. At that time, there was a discussion in the media about possible reasons, and one of the theories was that the court decided so because of his skin color.

"From the palace, they say it has nothing to do with skin color. According to the royal protocol introduced by King George V, only those who are in the direct line of inheritance can receive the title of prince or princess," said a source close to the royal family at the time.

Namely, Archie could receive the title 'Earl of Dumbarton', but he still doesn't have it by the decision of Harry and Meghan, and now the reason why has been revealed.

Royal expert and biographer Andrew Morton spoke to US Weekly about the reason. He explained that the couple gave up the title because they thought the other kids might tease him at school because his title ‘Earl of Dumbarton’ contained the word ‘dumb’.

"Harry and Meghan opted against that title, they thought they would make fun of Archie one day," said the author of the book 'Meghan and the Unmasking of the Monarchy: A Hollywood Princess'.

They did not want their son to be teased by peers at school, so they will leave the decision about the title to their son when he is older, the biographer said. However, the question is whether Archie will ever be able to get the title if he can only decide on that later.

Namely, the Island media recently wrote that Prince Charles (72) has devised a long-term family plan according to which he will significantly reduce the number of members of the monarchy, all because of the public pressure he feels. Of course, the thesis that the children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will never receive royal titles resonated most strongly. Of course, if Charles ever takes the throne.

According to the current rule, the grandson of the ruler claims the right to be a prince, but the monarchy also changes from time to time, so there could be another change. The decision is not directly directed against Harry and Meghan, well-informed sources from the court claim, but is part of a 'bigger plan'.

"Charles realizes that the public does not want to pay for a huge monarchy. At this rate, he said, the balcony in Buckingham Palace would probably collapse," they claim from the palace, as reported by the British media.
