This is why Prince William does not wear his wedding ring

It is known that generations of royal wedding rings were made of rare Welsh gold. This tradition began in 1923, when the queen, then Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, had her wedding ring made of that material.

Since then, wedding rings made of Welsh gold have been present at almost every royal wedding, including the wedding of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Prince William and Duchess Kate, Prince Harry and Megan Markle.

While Megan's wedding ring is made of Welsh gold, Harry actually decided to break with tradition and chose for himself a more modern platinum ring design, which he wears every day. However, you may have noticed that his brother William never wears his wedding ring.

Why? It turned out that the answer is quite simple: he does not like to wear jewelry. While putting a gold ribbon on Kate Middleton's finger during her 2011 wedding, William decided to stay without the ring. The night before the wedding, the assistant of the palace confirmed William's decision, stating it as a matter of "personal preferences".

William does not even wear a ring with a seal, like many male aristocrats, including his father, who wears a ring with the insignia of the Prince of Wales. In fact, Prince Charles wears both his ring with the seal and his wedding ring on his finger.

While William's brother and father decided to wear wedding rings, his grandfather Prince Philip did not wear one during his 73-year marriage to the Queen.

In April, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated a decade of marriage with a photoshoot and more jewelry! The subtle small diamond pendant by Asprey that Kate wore for her jubilee portraits costs 12,350 dollars and it is believed that her husband gave it to her as a present for their anniversary.
