With a big concert, New York announces its way out of the corona crisis: See who will perform
The concert is supported by Mayor Bill de Blasio and is intended to celebrate New York’s resilience.
New York will celebrate its exit from the most difficult period in the coronavirus pandemic with a free concert in Central Park on Saturday.
“We’re reopening New York to the rest of the world, and music will be the catalyst,” said producer Clive Davis, who designed the event with Live Nation promoters.
“We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert” features a musical lineup from classical to rap, and among the performers are Bruce Springsteen, Barry Manilow, Andrea Bocelli, Killers, Patti Smith, Paul Simon, and the New York Philharmonic.
The concert is supported by Mayor Bill de Blasio and is intended to celebrate the resilience of New York, one of the hardest-hit U.S. cities at the start of the June 2020 pandemic.
“This is a celebration of our city, of every working-class family that faced incredible challenges last year and overcame them,” de Blasio said.
The concert is expected to attract about 60,000 people and will also be broadcast live on CNN's cable channel. Confirmation of at least one received dose of vaccine or a negative coronavirus test is required to enter the concert.
