 AOC GK200 Keyboard Analysis

There are things that cannot be overlooked when configuring a gaming station and that can sometimes determine not only improved performance but also, weirdly enough, prevent possible physical problems.

This is the case with selecting a decent gaming keyboard, as its quality can influence not only the reaction of our actions during games but also, in the long run, make us play more comfortably and avoid pain or harm to our hands. Not to mention the importance of aesthetics for many players.

When it comes to purchasing a keyboard, the issue is that the selection is vast, with an extended and relatively expensive price range in the top range.

As a result, a new player or one who needs to change his budget faces the additional challenge of finding a keyboard of appropriate quality that does not surpass the investment he had planned to make.

In this sense, firms like AOC have a well-deserved reputation for providing economical items of exceptional quality for their price.

When we look at the specifications, the first thing we notice is that it is a keyboard with a membrane mechanism, which is unavoidable in this price category, but in the case of this model, it has been upgraded with a system of tactile sliders that replace the standard rubber parts.

Furthermore, this keyboard contains functions to deactivate the Windows key when playing, activate and deactivate the cursor keys, and, most importantly, an anti-ghosting mechanism. This feature allows certain keys to be pressed at the same time without triggering a conflict with the driver.

This enables you to execute movements and combinations in specific games without losing these keystrokes. When we attach the keyboard, the RGB backlighting technology fills the gaming environment with color.

The backlight system may be controlled by key combinations to change the brightness, the changeable glow effect, or to leave the backlight off entirely. The keyboard weighs 808 grams and is 447 x 142, putting it in between a small and a full-size keyboard but with enough space to comfortably accommodate hands of all sizes. The keyboard also includes a magnetic wrist rest that can be quickly detached and reattached.

The AOC GK200 is really easy to install because it has a USB 2.0 connection and a decent quality 1.8 meter cable, so we won't have any trouble placing it even though our gaming station includes the PC under the table.

We quickly noted that the quality of the wrist rest is more than we expected, and after the initial testing, we have continued to use it on a regular basis. The keyboard features two little feet that allow the back to be elevated somewhat but not excessively.

Because the wrist rest is magnetic, raising the keyboard has no effect because it will remain attached. The calligraphy on the keys is unique, but the letters and symbols are easily identifiable.

This design, combined with the backlighting, gives the overall effect of being highly modern. The option to adjust the brightness or change the system that adjusts the brightness is necessary so that we can transition from fun to a more "serious" use of the keyboard.

The touch of the keys is good, superior in some ways to that of membrane keyboards and with a lower noise level than mechanical keyboards, yet they do not match their sensitivity and, especially, touch.

We noticed a good reaction in gaming sessions, and the refresh rate of 1 millisecond makes it impossible to put it in troubles. Even while typing large sentences, weariness is not visible over long sessions. Also worthy of mention is the wonderful wrist rest.

The mechanism of the keys restores it to its place faster than a standard membrane keyboard, which is appreciated when playing but even more so when typing, making it a recommended keyboard for vocations that need significant text writing or long sessions with the keyboard. The item has a really nice appearance, and the finishing and assembly of the parts are up to AOC standards.
