Be careful not to drop it! Apple Disables Screen Repair on iPhone 13

As Apple bolded the new iPhone 13 phones because of the larger batteries, they also reduced the notch with FaceID technology to unlock the iPhone. Well, the new iPhone 13 series hides another Apple trick under the hood, and it's such that you can't service the screen without keeping the FaceID unlock on your face. Here's how they did it…

So far, changing the screen on iPhones in unauthorized services (because those authorized charged much more) has resulted in you losing the TrueTone feature. Also, you couldn’t change the front cameras or FaceID sensors to keep the face unlock. Those two things were like that, but they were unrelated. Now, you can't replace the screen, let alone the FaceID sensors for the other to continue to work properly.

The problem is that the FaceID chip is placed on the flex cable for the screen, and only Apple authorized service providers have the tool and the ability to reprogram and replace only the screen, or only FaceID sensors and users are not left without unlocking options or TrueTone.

Of course, this means that unauthorized repairers get another very complicated part to service, and even they can’t guarantee that the iPhone will keep FaceID after the screen changes. Even those unauthorized services that know how to change the screen without keeping FaceID have to charge significantly more because the process is incredibly delicate.

Of course, Apple has the right to ban unauthorized servicing, but users will pay significantly more for the service of anything on their iPhones and will have no choice when servicing. Now they locked the batteries, rear cameras, front cameras and FaceID and the screen, and by connecting the last two items, they made repair even more difficult.
