Before Diane, Prince Charles was fascinated by Barbra Streisand!
Prince Charles recently revealed that he was fascinated by Barbra Streisand in his youth, and the famous singer has now returned the compliments, revealing some details of their long-standing friendship.
Recalling in a conversation with British presenter Ross King her youth and meeting Prince Charles, singer Barbra Streisand said: 'It was so sweet.' It was 1974 in San Diego, where she was filming in a studio, and Prince Charles was 26 years old and served in the Royal Navy.
‘He asked to meet me, so he came to the music studio. I offered him tea and thought, 'Shouldn't they have checked to see if I might have put poison in it?' From that moment on, we became friends and I loved spending days in Highgrove, walking through its gardens, 'recalled Streisand, adding that she had been staying at a hotel in London for some time.
Then she noticed freshly picked flowers on the table in her assistant's hotel room. ‘I asked her who sent it to me and she replied a fan named Charles. I asked him to show me a message stuck in flowers and there was his signature. I knew that they were not from the flower shop but from his gardens', the 79-year-old singer revealed today and then revealed how it all happened at a time when Charles had not yet met Diana.
'When he came to my concert, I used to jokingly tell him from the stage,' You know, if I had played this well, I could have become the first Jewish princess. '
