Benedict Cumberbatch, the British actor best known to us for the series "Sherlock", claims that he was poisoned with nicotine three times while shooting the film. The 45-year-old starred in an interview with British magazine "Esquire" in the western "The Power of the Dog" by director and Oscar winner Jane Campion, a  passionate smoker.

- That was very difficult. A cigarette without a filter, just one after the other. I got nicotine poisoning three times. When you have to smoke a lot, it's really awful - says Benedict.

Cumberbatch in the film plays Phil Burbank, an ostentatious rancher in early 20th-century Montana who tortures the wife of his younger brother George. According to Thomas Savage’s 1967 novel, the elder Burbank is “an excellent reader, a man who stuffed animals, skilled in knitting rawhide and horsehair, solving chess problems, a blacksmith and metalworker, an arrowhead collector (he even tailored arrowheads himself with more skill than any Indian), a banjo player, a good writer, a builder of beaver slides for stacking hay, a vivid interlocutor. "

Cumberbatch has been going from project to project lately, making as many as four films: "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "The Electrical Life of Louis Wain," and the aforementioned " The Power of the Dog ".
