BenQ GV30, portable projector with Android TV

The projection lens is located on the front face and allows us to generate an image with a diagonal of between 30 and 120 inches, though they recommend moving between 80 and 100 inches to get an excellent image without using zoom.

It has a DLP projection technology, which is a chip coupled to micromirrors that projects an image with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at 60 Hz, which is unusual in this day and age. Lighting is provided by an LED bulb with 300 ANSI Lumens, which is also fairly uncommon and promises a lamp life of 30,000 hours (1,250 days or 3 and a half years).

In any event, HDR10 / HLG material must be reproduced with a contrast of 100,000:1 (FOFO) and a 30-bit color palette that is 98 percent consistent with the Rec. 709 standards. A camera next to the lens also permits autofocus and automatic vertical keystone correction by 30º.

The physical controls and a carrying handle are on the upper side, while one side has an HDMI 1.4b video input, a USB-C connector that permits DisplayPort video input, and PD charging up to 45W, an output analog audio and power connector.

It has a battery that claims 2.5 hours of autonomy, as well as a 2.1 speaker system with two 4W tweeters and an 8W woofer. They encrypt the noise of their fan at up to 29 dB, which has shown to be hardly audible and not at all bothersome in practice.

The interface is that of the Android TV operating system, which is obviously focused on televisions and projectors for pleasant navigation with remote control or by command because the remote control allows you to use the Google assistant. The navigation through the menus and the opening of the application is quite fluid, and it plays high-definition files without lag, however it does not project them.

For its part, the 300 nits of maximum brightness allow it to be utilized in low ambient light without issue, albeit it performs best in complete darkness. It suffers greatly with the light on, yet it can be seen if not for the movie.

The 2.1 speakers inside work extremely well in its favor, providing a clean and full-bodied sound that is adequate for watching a movie without making any demands.

It is worth noting that the stated autonomy of 2.5 hours is met, however, it is fairly fair to see depending on which movies are watched. If there isn't a nearby outlet, we'll be fairly reasonable in this regard.

The BenQ GV30 projector is a one-of-a-kind portable projector option, with an eye-catching design that will not go ignored. True, with 720p and 300 lumens, it is not for the most demanding consumers, but mobility is paramount, and it more than surpasses that requirement, focusing and adjusting the image autonomously. It also has a very smooth Android TV system, speakers with excellent sound, and HDMI and USB-C video connections.
