'Black Bird' trailer: Ray Liotta's final TV role

Apple TV + has released the first trailer for Ray Liotta's latest television project, the series "Black Bird", which will premiere on July 8. In six episodes of the crime series, Taron Edgerton plays Jimmy Keene, a high school football star who was sentenced to ten years in prison. Prosecutors are giving him an unusual offer: he can serve his sentence without the possibility of pardon or transfer to a maximum-security prison to make friends with a man suspected of serial killings and force him to confess to some more.

Liotta, who passed away last month at the age of 67, plays James Keene, known as Big Jim, Jimmy's father, and a former police officer. "I never wanted this to happen to you. I wanted a completely different life - a regular salary, children, family," he tells his son in the new trailer.

The series "Black Bird" is based on the memoirs of Keena Jr. entitled "In with the Devil: A Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption". Although this is the last television role of Liotta, the star of "Good Guys" has finished work on two more films - "El Tonto" and "Cocaine Bear", which should be premiered soon. The actor died in the Dominican Republic, where he shot the film "Dangerous Waters", a thriller in which he starred with Eric Dane and Odeya Rush.

Taron Edgerton, the star of the "Black Bird" series, said goodbye to his colleague on his Instagram with touching words. “I stepped on the set of 'Black Bird' in May last year, excited to work with Ray Liotta and even more excited that he plays my father. He kept to the side. He saved his energy to perform. I didn't know how to approach him because I didn't want to disturb him. He noticed me, approached me, and hugged me without a word. It was a long hug, but it wasn't awkward. That first day we only talked while we were in our characters. I think he wanted us to be a father and son before we become colleagues," Edgerton wrote, concluding that he would always be proud of his scenes with Ray.

"When I first saw our series, I sent him a message telling him that his performance was beautiful and that I was very proud of our work. His response was, 'You made me fall in love with you easily, my son.' That feeling was mutual. I will miss you," the actor added.
