Catherine Deneuve sells 125 pairs of shoes at a charity auction

Pumps, sandals and boots of famous brands worn by film icon Catherine Deneuve were sold at a charity auction in France. The online auction raised more than 47,000 euros for charity on Tuesday, according to Parisian auction house Artcurial.

Collectors paid the highest price for a pair of black pumps designed by Yves Saint Laurent - 1,300 euros. In addition to about 125 pairs of shoes, Deneuve also sold three small bags at auction.

Proceedings from the auction will go to the Restos du Coeur organization, which distributes food to people in need and supports them in their daily lives.

Deneuve has helped the organization before.

In 2018, Deneuve sold her huge clothing collection to fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. A total of about 300 dresses, coats and other garments, which Saint Laurent had been creating for his longtime girlfriend for decades, were then sold.

The actress (77) is one of the biggest stars of French cinema. Born in Paris, she has acted in more than 100 films.

Her most famous films include Roman PolanskisRepulsion,” Luis Bunuel’s “Belle de Jour” and Francois Truffaut’s “Mississippi Mermaid” where she starred alongside the recently deceased Jean-Paul Belmondo.
