Cheryl Burke Confirmed Divorce!
Cheryl Burke, a Dancing with the Stars pro, has broken her silence following the announcement that she is divorcing her husband Matthew Lawrence.
"I know I've always said I'm an open book with you guys, and I try to be, but as I've written this, I've found there really isn't a simple way to tell you my marriage is gone," the 37-year-old stated a day after the news surfaced. "I hope you understand that I will not be sharing any further information at this time, and I respectfully request your patience and respect." Thank you so much for your warm comments and encouragement." She went on.
Cheryl and Matthew, 42, married in May 2019 after meeting on the famous competition program in 2006, when she was paired with his brother Joey Lawrence.
They dated for a year before breaking up, only to reunite ten years later in 2017.
Cheryl filed for divorce on 18 February, and court records obtained by Us Weekly show their separation date was 7 January; Cheryl cited "irreconcilable differences" as the basis for their breakup.
Cheryl had uploaded a photo of the two of them spending Christmas with their beloved puppy Ysabella two weeks before their breakup.
After being diagnosed with COVID-19, the dancer claimed in 2021 that she is still suffering from fatigue and "brain fog."
"It appeared like the early stages of the disease and it escalated into losing my taste and smell, which quickly returned- but it was not until I began getting my heart rate up that I could experience [the COVID effects]," she stated.
She said that she was absolutely OK doing it once when they went live Monday at 5 pm, but it's back to the back of rehearsals that was hard for her.
After both tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in September, Cody and Cheryl became the first dance partners in Dancing With the Stars history to compete remotely and individually.
As a consequence of their diagnosis, their week two routine was assessed based on their rehearsal, while they performed individually on Britney Night from the comfort of their own homes.
