Chris briefly commented on the incident!
Chris Rock first appeared in public after the slap because of his comedic performance which was sold out, and fans supported him and wore T-shirts mocking Will Smith.
Chris Rock, 57, made his first public appearance after he was slapped by Will Smith, 53, last Sunday at the Oscars.
The comedian performed Wednesday at The Wilbur Theater in Boston and he was photographed by photographers on arrival. ‘How was your weekend?’ Chris asked the audience at the start.
He immediately clarified in front of 3,000 fans, some of whom paid a thousand dollars after the incident to see his performance, that he would not joke about the slap at the Oscars.
'I don't have a lot of dreams to say about it, so if you came for it ...' Rock said with tears in his eyes and paused.‘I wrote the whole show before last weekend. I'm still processing what happened, so I'll talk about that dream at some point. It will be funny, but now I will tell some jokes', he added.
In the second part of the performance, he commented on the incident and said he had not spoken to Smith since he slapped him at the Oscars. ‘I didn’t talk to anyone no matter what you heard,’ Chris pointed out. He later commented on his life in general during the performance and said he was doing well except for some weird things alluding to the incident which made the audience laugh.
Some of the fans also wore T-shirts mocking Will, and on them is written: 'When your relationship is open to everything except jokes' with a photo of the actor, alluding to his open marriage. Rock looked much better when he left the show when he was filmed in the car than when he came in the van with the security guards.
By the way, the Academy came forward and revealed that Will refused to leave the Oscars after he slapped Rock. 'Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, but we are aware that we should have handled the situation differently,' the BBC reported.
Academy members are scheduled to meet on April 18 and decide on a sentence for the actor, and he could be suspended or expelled. One of the hosts of the Oscars, comedian Wanda Sykes also spoke about the incident on the show Ellen DeGeneres.
