Deaths and tragedies: Curse of the Getty family

You may think that billions of dollars in the account and living in prosperity are a real blessing, but unfortunately, the story is not always like that. In the case of the Getty family, one of the richest families of all time, fame, money, gold and wealth brought them everything but not happiness.

Oil tycoon John Paul Getty may have secured billions of dollars by extracting oil in the Middle East, but so much money had a high price, which is why there is still talk about the 'curse of the Getty family'.Deaths, tragedies, and destruction follow them every step of their way, and last year stories of evil nature came to life again when John Gilbert Getty was found dead at the luxury Emma Hotel in San Antonio. Retired detectives pointed out that the details of his death were hidden very quickly and that the family and the authorities made sure that the public knew nothing about it except the basic facts.

The family statement says: ‘He was a talented musician who loved rock and roll. We will miss him very much. '

John Gilbert was the long-haired, tattooed grandson of oil magnate John Paul Getty and the heir to a $ 5 billion fortune. He died at age 52, just two months after his mother’s death and five years after the painful death of his older brother Andrew.

Andrew Getty was found dead on March 31, 2015, at his home in Beverly Hills. His ex-girlfriend found him naked from the waist, surrounded by a pool of blood. Heart disease and drug use have been reported as causes of death.

To make matters more bizarre, Andrew spent the last 15 years of his life working on the horror film ‘Evil in Me’ which was released after his death. The protagonist in the film brutally kills everyone he loves, and a family friend pointed out that the realization is based on the ‘powerful, sick, perverted dreams’ that Andrew had as a boy.

By the way, John’s daughter Ivy took to Instagram a few months ago with the words, ‘Dad, I can’t believe it’s been a year since you physically left us. I love you. I miss you.' In addition to Ivy, John Paul Getty had more than 40 descendants, all of whom are great-grandchildren. Among others, there are some recognizable names: Hollywood stylist August Getty (26), musician Isabel Getty (25), and designer Natalia Getty.

Although he made the Getty family what he is today, he was known as an extremely stingy man, and during one interview he even said that he never gives money to anyone because that is bad and wrong. Even after his death, he did not leave his empty billions to his family or even his sick grandson, but he left everything to several foundations, part of which is dedicated to his favorite hobby - collecting works of art. At the time of his death in 1976, he was ‘heavy’ with six billion dollars, which according to today’s value is as much as 21 billion.

He had five children and he was married five times. His youngest son Timothy died of a brain tumor when he was just 12 years old. His eldest son George stabbed himself with a fork while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The second son, John Paul Getty II, became addicted to heroin, just like his second wife Talitha, who died of an overdose.

From an early age, John Paul Getty was a great lover of works of art, but also known as a great womanizer. He was rumored to be always ready for bed with any woman, and he seldom refused his mistresses. When he was 25, he was sued by his mistress Elsie Ekstrom, claiming that he was the father of her daughter, Paula. Elsie then pointed out that she had lost her virginity with him, and those charges were dismissed in court because Getty’s lawyers claimed she had always been a promiscuous woman. Getty gave Elsie $ 10,000, after which she fled the city.

The public is also familiar with the tragic story of his grandson who was abducted by the Italian mafia in 1973 when he was only 16 years old. John Paul Getty refused to pay the $ 2.2 million figure, and he only agreed to it when part of his grandchildren was sent to him.

After nearly four months of captivity, an envelope with a severed grandson's ear arrived in an Italian daily newspaper. The kidnappers, who are now demanding $ 3.2 million, wrote: 'This is his ear. If we don’t get the money in 10 days, another ear will arrive. In other words, it will arrive in smaller parts.' Getty agreed to help and pay 2.9 million. He first saved 2.2 million because that was the maximum amount that could be deducted from taxes. He lent the rest of the amount to his son, who had to return the money with 4% interest.

The mafia released him after that, but he never overcame the trauma and ended up as a drug addict. In 1981, he suffered a stroke, remained blind, immobile and mute, and remained confined to a wheelchair until his death in 2011 at the age of 54.

He had only one child, Balthazar Getty (45) who is one of Getty’s most successful descendants with his uncle Mark Getty (60) who is the founder of the Getty Images photography agency.

Nats, or Natalia Getty, is one of the few with the surname Getty from a new generation of descendants that went public due to shocking details. On the other hand, many claims that she is inspiring and brave and that she is someone who has managed to defeat her demons.

Nats married transgender YouTuber Gigi Gorgeous a few years ago, noting that love with this Canadian saved her life. This was a short story about only some details from their family. We hope that their family 'curse' is over.
