Did you watch "Death on the Nile" movie ?
Death on the Nile - when you have money, no one is your real friend?
"Death on the Nile" (2022) directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh, a modern retelling of Agatha Christie's 1937 novel of the same name and a direct sequel to 2017's "Murder on the Orient Express" (also directed by Branagh).
After an extended prologue is designed to give us some background on Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), so we can get into the heart of this story. Poirot accidentally finds himself at a club where he witnesses the interaction of heiress Linnet Ridgeway (Gal Gadot), her friend Jacqueline de Bellefort (Emma Mackey) and Jacqueline's new fiance Simon Doyle (Armie Hammer). But it wasn't until six weeks later that the story really heated up.
At that moment, Poirot happens to run into the wedding guests who are going on a long trip to Egypt. Bride and groom? Linnet and Simon. Among the company are various family members and friends, including one of Linnet's exes. But Jacqueline follows the group, which makes Linnet feel very uncomfortable.
When Linnet asks Poirot to join the party so that nothing happens, he reluctantly agrees. And there seems to be something in the air. Will he be able to stop it?
The film tried to tighten things up by combining several characters and changing their relationships. This means that some plot points from the book change here, although the overall story remains the same.
Some of the changes made to the script also allowed them to insert some sermons. We won't say the script was historically or ethically wrong, but it felt forced, probably because we knew that things weren't there from the beginning.
Of course, Branagh reprises his role as the esteemed Hercule Poirot, ex-cop and “probably the greatest detective in the world” in the character's own humble assessment, and if you think our favorite mustachioed Belgian detective's ego has dropped a bit since we saw him in the last film, you'd be right. Likewise, Branagh as an actor is not exactly known for subtlety, so anyone new to this film expecting a more restrained Poirot should be prepared to see a Poirot who has a bit of a temper and isn't afraid to use him as an interrogation tool.
