'Harry Potter' does not need remakes, according to Chris Columbus, director of the first films

Two decades have passed since the ' Harry Potter ' saga started its journey on the big screen at the hands of Chris Columbus, director of its first two installments. 20 years that for many could invite a new film adaptation of the novels signed by JK Rowling to be considered. Columbus is not of that opinion.

The filmmaker who was behind the cameras of ' Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ' and ' Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ', is clear that it is best to stick with those films and not look for an unnecessary reboot of the franchise. Columbus, who knows what he is talking about because he is currently living the remake of another of his greatest hits, ' Home alone', which has a new version on Disney +, does not want to hear about someone trying to remake the hit magic franchise ... at least not in that sense.

He is happy about the new proposals raised, in fact, he has recently stated that he wants to adapt 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' , but nothing to touch the rest. Columbus makes it clear in an interview with Collider, in which he has assured that he does not know if there are plans to remake the films, but that he would not be happy.

"I can't answer the first question [if there are any remake plans] ... I don't know. In this version of Hollywood that we live in, everyone is redoing everything and restarting everything. I mean, there is going to be a reboot of "Home Alone." What's the point of that? The movie exists, let's live with the movie that existed. It doesn't make sense for us to remake " The Wizard of Oz," it doesn't make sense for any of us to remake the classic movies. Do something original, because we need more original material"

20 years of magic

Columbus has brought out his protective instinct to celebrate the anniversary of the saga's birth in cinemas, a magical journey that started 2 decades ago with 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'. Also to celebrate the said date, this film returns to theaters, and in addition, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has decided to launch a new collector's edition of the films.

The Hogwarts Express edition brings together the eight 'Harry Potter' films in 4K UHD and Blu-Ray formats, and also includes the first installment with the Magical Movie Mode and eight Blu-Ray discs with the documentary series' Creating the world of Harry Potter '
