Marisa Abela to play Amy Winehouse

While nothing has been definitively confirmed yet, there's a good chance that the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic has landed its lead actress. Variety magazine writes that actress Marisa Abela will most likely play the role of the famous singer in the film called Back To Black .

The 25-year-old British actress currently plays the troubled Yasmin Kara-Hanani in the series Industry ( BBC/HBO ), whose second season has just started airing. She also plays in the series COBRA on television and Sky TV, and soon we will see her in the films She Is LoveRogue Agent, as well as the prestigious production Barbie, in which she is accompanied by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling .

Marisa Abela graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. Like Amy Winehouse, she is of Jewish descent. The young actress can sing and as a famous singer has a relatively deep voice. The producers of the film Back To Black wanted a lesser-known actress to play the role of the late music star, and Abela certainly is, at least in the world.

Behind the biographical film about Amy Winehouse is the director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who already has experience in making films about famous music artists. In fact, she made the film Nowhere Boy about John Lennon's youthful days, the period before he rose to fame with the Beatles.

It remains to be seen if Marissa Abela will actually be played by Amy Winehouse in Back To Black, but as things stand now, she's the frontrunner for the role. The film will have its premiere in 2024.

Amy Jade Winehouse (Amy Jade Winehouse) was an English singer-songwriter known for her expressive contralto vocals, authentic appearance, and a mixture of musical genres: rhythm and blues, soul and jazz. Amy was the first British artist to win five Grammy Awards for the album "Back to black", making Amy the first British woman to win so many accolades. The album became a worldwide hit, and the song "Rehab" reached number 9 on the US pop singles chart.
