HP updates its gaming laptops

HP has updated its gaming laptops with the newest Intel and AMD processor options, dedicated graphics from AMD or NVIDIA, and two separate series models to satisfy performance requirements and available budget.

HP Omen 16

One of the greatest HP gaming laptops has been easily refreshed under the intriguing concept of delivering several hardware options depending on Intel or AMD. Users may thus select between a configuration with an Intel i9-12900H CPU or an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX, both of which provide enough performance for this equipment.

Gamers may also increase their FPS by purchasing NVIDIA's new RTX 3070 Ti dedicated graphics card, which is now available alongside previous 3050/3050 Ti alternatives, a more powerful 140W model of the RTX 3060, or an AMD Radeon RX 6650M.

The new systems have quicker RAM, greater storage, and improved networking. Both may be outfitted with 16 or 32 Gbytes of DDR5-4800 memory, and for internal storage, they include PCIe Gen4 solid-state drives with capacities ranging from 2 Tbytes (Intel) to 1 Tbyte (AMD).

There are two USB-C ports (with Thunderbolt 4 on Intel variants), an HDMI 2.1 output, three USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio line for communication.

The TouchPad surface is somewhat broader on this updated model, and the 720p webcam now has video noise reduction. The power adapter's capacity has also been enhanced, up to 200 watts to power a four-cell battery with 70 Wh.

The remainder of the design remains the same, as does the screen, which is a 16.1-inch panel with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz.

The HP Omen 16 (2022) will be available this summer in a variety of color finishes, including white or black with Intel and silver with AMD. It will start at $1,199 with Windows 11 pre-installed.

HP Victus 15

Gaming laptops are excellent. Aside from mobile workstations, they are the finest appearing and performing, but the major advancements come at a great cost.

In consideration of players on a tighter budget, HP has upgraded the Victus series, which is one step below the Omen in terms of functionality but is marketed at a lesser price.

This Victus has a 15.6-inch screen with native FHD resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate panel, which has been modified for the occasion. Customers will be able to pick between an Intel Core i5-12500H or an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H CPU, with an NVIDIA RTX 3050Ti or an AMD RX 6500M graphics card.

Both options include up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. There are also two USB Type-A ports, one USB-C connector (with DP 1.4), one HDMI 2.1 port, ethernet, power input, and a combination headphone jack.

The Victus 15 will be available this summer on HP's website and at retail outlets with Windows 11 and in blue, white, and silver color finishes. Its $799 price tag is reasonable for a gaming laptop and may appeal to gamers who do not want or cannot afford larger machines.
