Is Real stealing Erling Haaland from Barcelona?

Erling Haaland is one of the footballers who has been constantly written about in recent weeks in the context of his transfer to another club. This is not surprising when it is known that the Norwegian striker has a clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund, according to which he can leave for 75 million euros next summer, and his manager Mino Raiola often points out that Haaland could easily use that clause.

The director of Borussia, Hans-Joachim Watzke, is also aware of the fact that he will most likely lose his best footballer. The Dortmund team could have earned more for Haaland if they sold him last summer when the exit clause was not yet active, but they decided they better keep him at the club for another year. Borussia is still hoping they can keep the 21-year-old striker.

"I had a conversation with Raiol about a new contract for Haaland and we will definitely talk about it again in the next few weeks. He may leave, but he may stay," Watzke told Bild, adding:

"We focus on his development, and we would be proud if Haaland, like Robert Lewandowski, wins the Champions League once. I think it would be good for him to stay in the Bundesliga a little longer. Raiola is a person who knows what he's doing."

The director of Borussia admitted that Haaland has been the main topic of all conversations lately.

"Everywhere I go, everyone is interested in what will happen to Haaland. What I can say is that Real Madrid is very interested in him, but I can list 25 more clubs that would like to bring him in" Watzke said.

Kylian Mbappe has been mentioned around Real for a long time, and Haaland's name is associated with the 'Royal Club'. But in recent weeks, Barcelona has seemed to be the favorite in the race to bring him in, and some Spanish media have written about how Barcelona President Joan Laporta has already met with Raiol over a potential transfer. Does this statement by Watzke mean that Real will 'steal' from Barcelona one of the best young footballers in the world?
