Ten years have passed since the last film of the brilliant Hayao Miyazaki, who is behind the fantastic "Spirited Away", "My Neighbor Totoro" and so many other wonderful animated stories from Studio Ghibli. His latest film, titled "The Boy and the Heron" (君たちますみ生きかる), was released in Japan without any marketing campaign, no photos, announcements, or any synopsis before the film hit theaters. However, some marketing was done for the American market, so after the first trailer was released at the beginning of September, new photos and a poster for the film were released. No one expected it! So far we’ve gotten a teaser trailer, a video introduction, and the English voice cast list.
What to expect from this movie?
Longing for his mother, a young boy named Mahito ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end, and life finds a new beginning. A semi-autobiographical fantasy about life, death, and creation, in homage to friendship from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki. From the beloved and award-winning animation house, Studio Ghibli comes a beautiful, thoughtful and captivating story of love, loss and discovery.

The film had its premiere as part of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7. "The Boy and the Heron" thus became another Miyazaki film shown at TIFF. The mole's current rating on Rotten Tomatoes is a high 98% based on reviews. That is a great rating score.
When the long-awaited film arrives in US theaters on December 8th, it will be released in the original Japanese language with English subtitles, and in an English version. We cannot wait!
