NATALIE PORTMAN WILL NO LONGER BE SILENT: 'He wrote me that he wanted to rape me'
Natalie Portman recounted how she faced sexual harassment at just 13 years old.
When actor Björn Andrésen’s book was recently published in which he revealed that he was used as a sexual object and then discarded, the story of how the film industry affects children and young people went further.
Actress Natalie Portman, who has been the target of sexist comments and various sick fantasies since she was a child, has now decided to share her confession .
When she did her first role in ‘Léon: The Professional’ at the age of 12, she suddenly became famous. In that film, she played a young girl who befriended a killer in hopes of avenging the murder of her parents. A year later, when the film came out, she received the first fan letters describing the fantasy of rape by the male population.
‘In the first letter from a fan I read, and I was 13 at the time, there was a detailed explanation of the sexual fantasy in which that man was raping me,’ she recounted.
‘I quickly realized, even though I was only 13, that if I expressed my sexuality I would feel insecure and that men would feel they had a right to comment on my body. I refused the roles with kissing and emphasized my serious side. I built a reputation as a ‘reasonable and serious’ young woman and that actually saved me, ’the 40-year-old actress said.
