Nirvana’s song ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ surpassed a billion streams on Spotify!
Just a few months before the celebration of 30 years since the release of the album ‘Nevermind’ which established new success on the market.
For those who don't happen to know, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" opens the album "Nevermind" by the group Nirvana. The song was chosen as the first single in 1991, after which it did not leave the top of the charts for months, while the lightning sales of the album "Nevermind" marked a big breakthrough in alternative rock and the then grunge scene from Seattle.
By surpassing the billionth stream on Spotify, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" entered a narrow circle of 150 songs that achieved equal success on the aforementioned streaming service. Among them are as many as three Queen songs; “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites The Dust,” and “Don’t Stop Me Now,” while another 1980s rock classic, Sweet Child O ’Mine by Guns N’ Roses is expected to soon cross the billionth stream and it is currently at 975 million listens.
We remind you that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" had its billionth view on the official Youtube channel in 2019.
