"Californication" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers has crossed one billion views on YouTube

The video for Red Hot Chili Peppers' song "Californication" has surpassed one billion views on YouTube, making it the first Peppers video to do so.

The film was released in 2000 and posted to YouTube in 2009, implying that it received more than 210,000 views every day.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris directed the video. It features the band members as avatars in the style of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater: Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante.

This song, which was the title track from the 1999 album "Californication," reached number 69 on Billboard's Hot 100 list that same year, but also topped the rock charts "Mainstream Rock Tracks" and "Modern Rock Tracks" in the United States.

Despite not reaching the heights of their biggest songs, "Under the Bridge," "Scar Tissue," "Otherside," and "Californication," "Californication" became the Red Hot Chili Peppers' most popular video by far.

"Otherside" comes in second with over 600 million views, followed by "Scar Tissue" from "Californication" and "Dark Necessities" from the album "The Getaway" from 2016.
