Russian duo tATu returns to the scene: At first they pretended to be in a relationship, and then they haven't talked for years

Russian pop duo tATu will return to the stage next year, announced one of the singers  Lena Katina (37) on social networks.

Lena posted a video on her Instagram profile, in which she addresses fans in an unusual edition.

- Official tATu tribute in the spring of 2022. Please write us the names of the performers / DJs you would like to hear with us on stage in the comments. Your opinion is important to us! - Katina wrote in the description of the video.

She soon gathered more than 17,000 likes on the post, and enthusiastic fans left thousands of suggestions for collaborations in the comments.

Lena Katina and Julia Volkova (36) dominated the music charts from 1999 to 2011, and their international fame was secured by the 2002 hit 'All The Thing She Said'.

The video for the song raised a lot of dust as it shows Lena and Julia kissing in school uniforms in the rain while their peers watch them.

The video was banned and censored in some countries, and it was its provocativeness that contributed to the further promotion of the group. The girls at the time pretended to be in a relationship and that they were very much in love.

They later admitted that their lesbian relationship was just a marketing ploy, designed by their manager Shapovalov to shock the public. They also attracted attention when they appeared in Jay Lenon's 'The Tonight Show' in 2003 in T-shirts with the inscription 'F**k the war' in Russian, and when they tried to run for president of Russia a year later.

Julia gave birth to her first daughter Victoria in 2004 when she was just 19 years old. Three years later, she gave birth to a boy, Samir, to her then-husband Parviz Yasinov.

In 2010, she converted to Islam, but in 2017 she returned to her original religion, Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Julia claims to be bisexual, but in 2014 she shocked the public with homophobic comments.

- Two girls together - not the same as two men together. It seems to me that lesbians look much more beautiful aesthetically - said Julia, who in April 2021 began her political career as a candidate of the Russian Conservative Party.

Since the break-up of the band, Lena Katina has focused on her solo music career. So far, she has released three studio albums, and unlike Julia, she has shown support for the LGBT community. The two of them have been in conflict for years, and it was only in June this year that they started talking.
