AMD's growth pace with its Ryzen processors has slowed after Intel debuted Alder Lake. After a somewhat challenging season, the blue monster had finally returned to the ring, adding some hurdles to what had previously been a German autobahn with no speed restriction for AMD with its ZEN architecture. For a few months, the processor market has regained the much-missed strong competition.

Now, AMD's next big move with Ryzen will likely be Zen 4, but the primary issue is that its release date is still a few months away, and Intel is gaining ground in the meanwhile. Also, there won't be much of a time lag between the release of the first Zen 4 chips and the release of Intel's 13th generation Raptor Lake processors. The ball is now in AMD's court, and we already have a first answer, which comprises releasing new Ryzen chips to fight the point until its next-generation arrives.

Specifically, and as reported by Techspot, AMD plans to release three new chips soon: the Ryzen 5 5500, Ryzen 5 5600, and Ryzen 7 5700X, all of which are positioned between the entry-level and mid-range, and which will arrive to compete, most likely on price, with their Intel Alder Lake performance namesakes.

  • The AMD Ryzen 5 5000 would be a processor made up of six cores and six threads. In this case we do not find a direct equivalence with the Alder Lake offer. However, due to features and price range, it is quite likely that it will rival the  Intel Core i3-12100 , a four-core, eight-wire chip that has found a very good fit in the market.
  • For its part, the Ryzen 5 5600 with its six cores and twelve threads, would be the "little brother" of the 5600X, and would come to beat the copper with the Intel Core i5-12400 .
  • Closing the list is the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X , which offers eight cores and 16 threads, designed to take on Intel's i5-12600KF , with its 10 cores and 16 threads.

In all three examples, we're talking about Intel processors that have a terrific market fit and are highly regarded by users. Thus, AMD must have made an effort to ensure that the performance of these new Ryzen processors is on par with that of its Intel counterparts, and that, in addition to competing in performance, it also does so with a pricing policy that places these three chips in a more economical position than those he is competing against.

Regardless, and barring any surprises, these three processors will be Ryzen's farewell to the Zen 3 architecture, so the next step will be to fold the back of the seats horizontally, collect the folding trays, fasten your seatbelt, and prepare for an end of 2022 that will be supersonic in both the processor and graphics card fields. And when we consider the normalization of component pricing as well as the predictable decline in the price of DDR5 memory… sure, a PC change Christmas is on the way.
