That night America was restless, Trump went wild ... And Melania? 'I knocked on the door, she was sleeping'
Former First Lady Melania Trump's Chief of Staff reveals White House curiosities in presidential memoirs
Melania Trump slept on election night in 2020 while her husband Donald Trump was losing the U.S. election to rival Joe Biden, according to Stephanie Grisham’s new book “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the White House”.
Former Trump's Chief of Staff says in her memoirs that the former First Lady spent part of election night asleep before her husband held a press conference announcing his victory too early and fueled unfounded theories about election fraud.
"I knocked a few times, quietly at first, then louder. When I finally opened the bedroom door, I saw Melania Trump sleeping soundly," Stephanie Grisham writes in her book, adding, "Maybe she thought someone would wake her up if Trump wins."
Still, she woke up in time to join Trump’s press conference at 2:30 p.m.
Melania and Grisham had been on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate the night before, but the former Chief of Staff "can't believe Melania could have slept while such things were happening."
She also admitted she was shocked to learn that Melania shared her husband’s opinion that the election was "stolen".
