The famous host Anderson Cooper revealed that his mother offered to carry his child: "It was a completely new level of madness"

Well-known broadcaster Anderson Cooper declared himself a homosexual, and as a guest on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he revealed shocking details of his relationship with his late mother.

As he said, 10 years before her death, when she was 85, she visited a gynecologist who told her that she was still able to give birth. Cooper thought that she wanted to give birth to another child, and as it turned out, she proposed to her son to be the surrogate for his child.

"You know, sometimes people wonder how during interviews I just stay, like, stone-faced and listen to people say batsh*t crazy things. I grew up with Gloria Vanderbilt," he began his confession. He recalled the one time she wanted to have a serious conversation with him.

"She’s like, ‘Well, you know, you can get an egg anywhere these days.’ I was like, ‘Uh-huh.’ She was like, ‘Well, what I was thinking is, you get an egg and, you know, fertilize it with your sperm, and I’ll carry your child," Cooper recalled.

"That is just weirdly Oedipal on a whole other level. That kid would be on the front pages for the rest of his life," Anderson pointed out.

His mother passed away in 2019, and only a year later he had a son Wyatt with the help of a surrogate mother. Cooper and his ex-partner Benjamin Maisani, a nightclub owner are co-parenting their son.
