The filming of the biographical film "BACK IN BLACK" started!

Almost 12 years after the death of Amy Winehouse, the production of a biographical film about the life of the British soul icon has begun. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson reported on Instagram that filming of the film 'Back to Black', named after Amy's second album, will begin in London on Monday, January 16. That means that filming already started! She also published the first photo of actress Marisa Abela transformed into a famous singer with her hair up high, tattoos, and characteristic big earrings.

The plot of the film follows Amy's "colorful early years in London and her intense journey to fame". Taylor-Johnson is best known for the film hit '50 Shades of Grey' and for the biographical musical film 'John Lennon: Nowhere Boy'. Young British actress Marisa Abela (26) is also the star of the HBO TV series 'Industry'. The actress posted a photo of herself standing in front of a large graffiti portrait of Winehouse. "I love you, Amy," she wrote under the photo.

The script for the film was written by Matt Greenhalgh, the screenwriter of Taylor-Johnson's debut feature film from 2009 about John Lennon.

"The first time I saw Amy's performance was at a talent show in a jazz club in Soho and it was immediately obvious that it wasn't just about talent...she was a genius. I feel both excited and humbled because I have the opportunity to realize and bring Amy's beautiful, unique and tragic story, accompanied by the most important part of her legacy - her music,"  the director stated about the new film.

In addition to her magnificent voice and great musical hits, Winehouse filled the pages of newspapers because of her behavior. She struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years. She died on July 23, 2011, from alcohol poisoning at the age of only 27.

In 2015, British director Asif Kapadia made a documentary about the life of an unfortunate singer called Amy, for which he received an Oscar.
