At the end of each year, IMDb publishes a list of the most anticipated new movies and series that people can’t wait to see next year, and the list of what awaits us in 2022 is quite long.

Here are the movies and series that the year ahead brings:

Batman

With Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell and others in the lead roles, Batman follows Bruce Wayne in his second year of fighting crime. In this film, he chases Riddler, a serial killer who has risen up against the Gotham City elite. Batman is forced to make new alliances to bring justice to his city.

Scream

25 years after a series of brutal and horrific murders shocked Woodsboro, a new part of Scream follows a killer wearing the cult Ghostface mask and haunts a group of teenagers. Part of the cast are some well-known faces such as Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, David Arquette and others.

Thor: Love and Thunder

The plot of the film continues after we last saw Thor in Endgame. While there aren’t many details about the plot yet, we know that Natalie Portman will return as Jane Foster and take on the role of Mighty Thor from the comics. Also, Guardians of the Galaxy will appear, and Christian Bale has been given the role of Gorra.

Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise returns as Maverick in the sequel to the original 1986 Top Top Gun. The film will follow Peter “Maverick” Mitchell as he continues to serve as one of the best naval pilots and coaches a new class of young hopefuls.

Killers of the Flower Moon

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film follows members of the Osage tribe in the United States who were shockingly killed under mysterious circumstances in the 1920s. Killers of the Flower Moon follows an FBI investigation into the murders, which involved J. Edgar Hoover. The cast consists of Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone.

Jurassic World: Dominion

Set four years after the events of Jurassic World: The Fall of the Kingdom, this film begins with the sale of genetically modified dinosaurs at auctions around the world. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are returning as Owen and Claire, and will be joined by original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and others.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Following the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange now faces the biggest threat ever: the multiverse. As unspeakable evil is now entering our world, Doctor Strange seeks the help of Wanda Maximoff.

Mission Impossible 7

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in the seventh part of Mission Impossible.

Uncharted

Based on a series of best-selling video games, Uncharted follows Nathan Drake, who goes on a treasure hunt along with Sully Sullivan. The duo seeks to uncover “the greatest treasure ever found” and also track down clues that could lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.

The Flash

The film follows Barry as he travels into the past to try to prevent his mother’s murder. Of course, this leads to unintended consequences on the timeline as we know it.

House of the Dragon

The series is set 200 years before the Game of Thrones event. House of the Dragon will tell the story of the Targaryens and explain how they went from being the most powerful house to a family that eventually lost everything

Lord of the Rings

The plot of the series is set thousands of years before the one in the films The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers to a time when great powers were forged and kingdoms rose to fame and decay.

Pam & Tommy

With Lily James and Sebastian Stan in the lead roles, Pam & Tommy follows a turbulent relationship between Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee after the release of their infamous sex tape, which was filmed during their honeymoon.

The Sandman

Based on Neil Gaiman's favorite comic book series, Sandman will tell the story of Morpheus / Dream, the king of dreams and one of the seven Infinites. In 1916, Morpheus was captured during the rites and after being held captive for 105 years, he finally escaped. He now intends to establish order in his Kingdom of Dreams. Tom Sturridge plays Morpheus alongside Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer.

The Last of Us

Based on a favorite series of video games, The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization was destroyed. The series follows Joel, who is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of the quarantine zone. What starts as a small business soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as the legendary Jedi. The series will follow Obi-Wan as he watches Luke Skywalker who is on Tatooine. Set about 10 years after the Sith Revenge, we’ll learn even more about Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, who will once again be played by Hayden Christensen.

She-Hulk

Tatiana Maslany will play Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, in this latest Marvel series, and we’ll also see more of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, who is her cousin. The series will also star Tim Roth, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Ginger Gonzaga and Jameela Jamil.

Ms. Marvel

The series tells the story of Kamala Khan, who is a big fan of the Avengers, especially Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel. Kamala is constantly struggling to fit in until he gains his own powers.
