The secret passion of Ellen DeGeneres

Famous television presenter and comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her partner, actress Portia de Rossi, are called real estate huntresses in Hollywood. And this is not surprising because in the last fifteen years they have bought and sold more than twenty luxury houses that they have decorated themselves, and their passion has become a lucrative business.

Their latest acquisition is a magnificent villa in Montecito, a luxury suburb of Santa Barbara that was recently mentioned around the unbearable stench emanating from a nearby bird sanctuary. But the stench, which bothers Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also residents of Montecito, did not reach Ellen and Portie, so they bought a new one with the two properties they already own there.

It is a property that spreads over two and a half hectares with a villa of 1,200 square meters for which they set aside $ 21 million. It would be said to be a lucrative business, as the former owner asked for $ 35 million for his property just three years ago.

The luxurious building is named Villa Tragara and is decorated in Maori style inspired by the Alhambra Palace located in Granada, Spain. The property also has additional buildings, an olive grove, a lake, a tennis court, a swimming pool. But it will hardly keep its appearance because the long-standing passion of the famous host is interior design and resale of real estate.

"When I was little we didn't have our own house and we were constantly moving and renting some new houses. It was always a problem for me to arrange my room because I never really had one. So I bought the first house with the first money I earned, then the second, so the third. I don't even know their number anymore. The first was a small bungalow in West Hollywood that I remodeled and sold for a bigger amount. That's when I realized that if you improve and beautify something, you can make money on it, " said Ellen DeGeneres in an interview where she revealed her passions which is why she was nicknamed - shark for houses.

"Even though I move a lot, home means a place where I feel comfortable. I love beautiful things, maybe more than other people, but it's all in vain if I can't put my feet on the sofa or my pets can't lie on it." added DeGeneres, which also has its own line of home products, and has published a book, Home, dedicated to interior design.
