Singer Jesy Nelson struggled with depression: I am finally happy
Jesy Nelson, a former member of the band Little Mix, is returning to the music scene, now as a solo artist. Her first single will be a track with rapper Nicki Minaj, and in the first interview since her return, she emphasized that she is finally happy, after a long time.
"I am sincerely happy, for the first time in many years. Until recently, I said yes, but I didn't really feel that way. Now I’m honestly, 10/10 happy," Jesy Nelson said.
"The main reason is that I took control of my life and took care of myself. That's the most important thing you can do, and that's what I did. I know this is a real feeling now because my mom, my sister, saw it. This is now Jesy, who disappeared a decade ago and fell into a black hole of misery and depression, "she continued.

She added that she thought she would never be able to feel happy again, but it is important that people know that it is possible to find a way to recovery.
"My twenties were painful. In my thirties, I take care of myself. Some people think it's selfish, but I just want to love myself and be happy, in music and career. I don't just want to say that, I want to feel it, "she said.
Her departure from the group shocked both the world and the fans, and Jesy says that she has not talked to the girls since then.
"I did not talk to the girls. It's weird that we've been as close as sisters for so many years, spent weeks together, shared beds, laughed, cried 24 hours a day, the four of us together, and then… Nothing. "
She didn't even see the children of her former colleagues. "No. I sent a few messages, but that’s it. I can't explain it, but at the moment there must be a distance between us. I hope we get together again someday. They are my sisters in many ways, but now we just don't talk."

She says that her solo career has helped her when it comes to mental health, because now she makes her own decisions about everything, while before she was anxious before every recording.
"I would starve for days and wear these corsets, so tight that I could barely breathe. I wore them to reduce my waist and look like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry."
"I couldn't breathe often while I was working, and my body would be bruised from the corset. But that's how it was. I always felt fat," she revealed.
