The Summer Game Fest with big announcements

Geoff Keighley stunned us at the beginning of last month by announcing that the Summer Game Fest would return this year, taking advantage of the absence of the E3 2022 extravaganza.

However, beyond the summer framework, the well-known broadcaster provided no details. Something that has finally changed with the release of the event's official date, which will take place on Thursday, June 9.

With Keighley at the helm of the event, this year is likely to witness a slew of game announcements, world premieres, and fresh views at some of this year's and next year's impending releases.

Furthermore, this presentation will be followed by the Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition event, in which the debuts of the video game scene will be completed with a particular bit for independent games.

Some events that we can watch live on major broadcasting platforms and social networks such as YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, or the event's own website.

Although no participants have been confirmed as of yet, it would not be surprising if many, if not all, of the companies present last year, including 2K, Activision Blizzard, Amazon Games, Capcom, Deolver Digital, EA, Epic Games, Frontier, Bandai Namco, Riot Games, Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Tencent, and even PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox, were present.

Thus, it is worth noting that secrecy is usually one of the Summer Game Fest's strong points, which surprised us all last year with great announcements such as the first gameplay trailer for Elden Ring along with its release date, a bombshell that It already aims to be the game of the year for this 2022; in addition to other high caliber announcements such as Lost Ark, Death Stranding: Director's Cut, or Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, among others.

As for what to expect this year, we can only speculate, though there are clearly few names that have already struck a chord. And it is that just yesterday, in an unrelated interview, Naoki Yoshida (better known as Yoshi-P) surprised the Final Fantasy XVI audience by announcing that the final trailer was already completed, along with the message that, despite the factors that had forced the game's release to be delayed, it is now ready to drop "soon."

Statements like these, combined with the fact that this game was supposed to be announced in the spring, lead us to believe that he will be one of the Summer Game Fest's main protagonists.

On the other hand, some announcements, such as Breath of the Wild 2 or the rest of Nintendo's titles, can be ruled out, as the company prefers to keep its major announcements within the context of its own Nintendo Direct presentations.
