Tom Holland reveals he cried during the last day of filming "Spider-Man"

"We've been making these films for five years," Tom Holland told Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, "The three of us had such an amazing relationship. We were together every step of the way - from all the sequels to the film to every press tour."

Holland joined the Marvel movie universe as Spider-Man / Peter Parker in the 2016 film "Captain America: Civil War." His first solo film about the cult character called “Spider-Man: Homecoming” was released the following year.

Homecoming” focuses on Peter juggling his desire to be a friendly neighborhood hero with typical high school problems, like falling in love with a popular girl named Liz (played by Laura Harrier). The film also introduced Batalon as Peter’s best friend Ned, and Zendaya as a classmate named MJ.

Holland, Batalon, and Zendaya reunited for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in 2019, which took students to Europe as part of a class trip. There, the romantic relationship between Peter and MJ flourished.

The first trailer for the upcoming third film "Spider-Man" showed that their relationship will be tested.

Holland told EW that while working with Batalon and Zendaya, during one of his last days on the set of “No Way Home,” he became overwhelmed with emotion.

The actor said he doesn’t know if this will be the last time the trio will work together.

It was heartbreaking, but also really exciting, because we’re all moving on to the next chapter of our careers,” Holland recalled. "So sharing that moment with them was perhaps the best day I've ever had on set. I don't think I've ever cried like that."

Holland previously told GQ and Collider that his contract expires after “No Way Home” so his future after that film is unknown. In an interview with EW, he said he has a feeling this film is the conclusion of his “Spider-Man” phase.

We’ve all treated 'No Way Home' as the end of the franchise,” Holland told EW. "I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you'd see a completely different version. It wouldn't be a 'Homecoming' trilogy anymore. We'd give it a little time and try to build something different and change the movies."

Zendaya shared a similar comment back in July, telling E News that filming “No Way Home” was “bitter-sweet” because she wasn’t sure if the cast would act together in the next sequel.
