True crime podcasts: Series 'Only Murders in the Building'
This series pokes fun at true crime podcasts in a sophisticated way. Although sometimes it is quite difficult to follow everything that is released on streaming platforms we can not deny that they are an important part of the film-television ecosystem because they allow content that does not fit into the Hollywood mainstream slot to find an audience.

Where else could we watch a wacky comedy series like 'Only Murders in the Building'? Certainly not in cinemas, because Hollywood has decided that only superheroes, spectacles and established franchises can go on the big screen.

'Only Murders in the Building' follows three fans of true crime podcasts who start their own after a murder occurs in the building where they live. The main roles in the series are played by acting legends Steve Martin and Martin Short and singer and actress Selena Gomez. Martin plays partially retired actor Charles-Haden Savage, Short is a theater director on the verge of bankruptcy Oliver Putnam, and Gomez is a young painter renovating her aunt's apartment.

Famous faces such as Tina Fey , Nathan Lane , Amy Ryan , Amy Schumer , Sting , Shirley MacLaine , Michael Rapaport and Jane Lynch appear in secondary and episodic roles.

The series was created together by Martin and the American screenwriter John Hoffman. 'Only murders in the Building' is creatively led by Martin, Short, Hoffman and Dan Fogelman. Dan is the screenwriter of numerous animated hits such as 'Cars' and ' A Very Tangled Story' and excellent modern romantic comedy 'That Crazy love'.

Short is fantastic as the crazy director, and Martin is excellent as the somewhat insecure but charming actor in his years. Gomez, as the seemingly cold and indifferent member of Generation Z, complements these comedy veterans perfectly. If you decide to watch this series we are sure you won't regret it!
