Will Smith publicly apologized to Chris Rock!

Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock after slapping him at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday night.

‘Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive,’ the winner of the Best Actor award on Instagram wrote on Monday afternoon.

'My behavior at last night's Oscars was unacceptable and unforgivable. Jokes about me are part of the job, but jokes about my Jade's health were too much for me and I reacted emotionally. ' Will wrote.

'I would like to apologize to you publicly, Chris,' Smith wrote in a statement. 'I was out of control and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions did not indicate the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. '

Smith then apologized to ‘the Academy, the producers of the show, all the participants and everyone who watches around the world’, as well as ‘the Williams family and my King Richard film family’.

‘I deeply regret that my behavior ruined a really wonderful evening for all of us,’ he concluded

After slapping Chris, Smith, 53, returned to his seat and shouted twice to Rock (57)  ‘Don’t mention my wife’s name’ .

Moments later, he won the most coveted title of the evening for his role in ‘King Richard’ , a biographical film starring Venus and Serena’s father, Richard Williams. During his speech, Smith apologized to everyone except Rock.

'I want to apologize to the Academy. Also, I want to apologize to all of you gathered here. This is a wonderful moment and I am not crying about winning the award , 'he said. ‘It’s not about winning an award for me; it's about being able to shine a light on all people. '

Recall, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Variety that Chris Rock refused to file a police report after the scandal with Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards.

A statement from the Los Angeles Police Department said: 'LAPD investigators are aware of an incident between two people during the Oscars. In the incident, one person slapped another. The person that is involved refused to file a police report. If the party involved wants a police report later, the LAPD will be available to complete the investigation report.
