5 MOST COMMON MISTAKES IN BATHROOM DESIGN!

Renovating or remodeling a house is one of the most exciting and creative processes that each of us (sooner or later) has to go through. But with all that responsibility comes the pressure to make important decisions that will last for many years. How can you be sure to get the right design for your lifestyle, stay within your budget and maximize the functionality of a room? Easy, if you consider the space at your disposal in time!

When it comes to bathroom design, you should always start with a well-thought-out idea and carefully locate the current problem that the household is facing. Today's bathrooms must be beautiful, use space efficiently and serve all family members functionally. Avoiding the common design mistakes we share below can help you be happier with your bathroom in the long run.

1. WITHOUT LOOKING OUTSIDE, THINGS GET BORING

No one likes a dark, dank bathroom with poor ventilation because simply put - no one enjoys spending time in such a space. If you are building or moving a bathroom, try to install it on an outside wall with windows. If windows aren't an option, installing a functional skylight can provide the fresh air and natural light needed to make a space feel comfortable and airy.

2. CLEAR VIEW FROM PUBLIC ROOMS

Whenever possible, avoid locating - a bathroom directly across from one of the public rooms in the home such as the kitchen, living room, or dining room. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to put your bathroom at the end of a long hallway, but create some kind of formal separation to break the line of sight. The last thing you want is to be sitting in the living room with a glass of wine and looking straight into the bathroom and the toilet.

3. HIDE THE TOILET

Avoid the toilet, the toilet bowl, being the first thing you see in the bathroom, and avoid looking at it from neighboring rooms. If you have space, place the toilet and shower in a separate compartment, and separate the sink on the other side. Not only is this a more visually appealing move, but it allows someone to shower while someone else is just getting ready at the sink. A wall, acrylic panel, or any other type of barrier between the mentioned zones will double the functionality of the space.

4. INCREASE ENTHUSIASM FOR SHOWERING

A curbless shower makes the bathroom bigger and cleaner — plus, it's very practical for homeowners who "age in place" because it adheres to universal design principles. This look is fairly easy to achieve in a new bathroom or remodel, just make sure you mention it to your architect or contractor before construction.

 5. BIGGER IS NOT NECESSARILY BETTER

That's right: bigger is not better. Whether you're designing a large master bathroom in your dream home or trying to figure out how to squeeze in an extra bathroom for your growing family, the most important aspect of your new bathroom is that it has a great design that works effectively for all members and their specific lifestyles. The truth is that great design is less about how a bathroom looks (although it's always nice when it looks fantastic) and more about how it functions. Great design means a house that functions better, costs less to build, is more efficient to maintain and gives you more for less .
