Acer Unveils New Swift and Spin Series Laptops

Acer Swift 3 OLED

The Taiwanese brand focuses on ultralight laptops for all segments, including consumers, professionals, freelancers, and students. It boasts an aluminum chassis that is 17.9mm thick and weighs only 1.4kg, as well as eco-friendly details like an OceanGlass touchpad manufactured from ocean plastic waste.

Its screen, with a 14-inch diagonal OLED panel and WQXGA + (2.8k) resolution, is without a doubt the standout component. It has an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a screen-to-body ratio of 92 percent. It is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified and covers the entire DCI-P3 color gamut.

The 12th generation Alder Lake Intel Core H-series processors are distinguished by integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, PCIe Gen 4 solid-state storage, and up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory.

It is certified for Intel Evo due to features such as its rapid start after sleep mode and 10 genuine hours of autonomy, with fast charging that provides 4 hours of battery life in just 30 minutes.

In addition to the Thunderbolt connections, the latest version of the Wi-Fi 6E wireless standard stands out in the connectivity section. Its FHD MIPI webcam uses Acer's Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) technology to produce high-quality video even in low-light environments, while Acer PurifiedVoice with AI noise reduction guarantees the user's voice is heard loud and clear.

Its backlit keyboard incorporates a unique airflow design that dissipates 10% more heat than a normal keyboard.

Acer Spin 5

The Taiwanese automaker has also updated a number of convertibles that we appreciate. It has a 14-inch touch screen with WQXGA resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels), a 16:10 aspect ratio, an 88 percent screen-to-body ratio, and TÜV certification against bothersome blue light.

Acer provides a high-quality stylus with Wacom AES 2.0 technology and 4,096 levels of pressure for enhanced precision and control when using the touch screen.

Lightweight (1.3kg) and ultra-slim (16.9mm), it has a 360-degree hinge system, allowing smooth transitions between multiple modes of use—laptop, display, tent, or camping—making it suitable for any work.

The Spin 5 is another Intel EVO certified model, with internal hardware based on 12th generation Intel Core i7 processors and an Intel Iris Xe graphics card. It features up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 1 Tbyte of PCIe Gen 4 storage.

It comes with a Killer brand network module that supports Wi-Fi 6E and two USB Type-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4 for fast data transmission and power supply.

The Twin Air cooling system on the Spin 5 is built with Acer's Vortex Flow architecture, which the maker claims enhances performance by up to 75% while keeping temperatures under control.

Acer Spin 3

A variation of the previous one reduced benefits while increasing the price. On its multi-touch surface, there's a 14-inch FHD screen and the intriguing Acer Active Stylus for drawing and taking notes.

It is powered by Intel Core processors of the 12th generation, with Intel Iris Xe graphics cards and SSDs for bulk storage. It contains two USB Type-C connectors with Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6. It has an HD camera with Acer TNR technology and Acer PurifiedVoice with AI noise reduction.

The Spin 3's narrow bezels enable an 86 percent screen-to-body ratio, and its strong point, like any convertible, is its great versatility due to the modes of use that its hinge systems allow to comfortably alternate between reading, annotating, and shared work in a laptop, presentation, or tablet modes.
