Actor Michael K. Williams has passed away

Actor Michael K. Williams (54), best known for his role as Omar, a favorite character from the cult series The Wire, has been found dead.

The actor's body was found in his penthouse in Brooklyn, New York this Monday afternoon, writes The Post.

A source from the police revealed that an overdose is suspected since a drug-taking kit, possibly for heroin or fentanyl, was found next to him.

"There is no suspicion of a crime, no traces of forced entry, or riots in the apartment," the source revealed.

Williams was found by his nephew in the living room of a luxury apartment.

Michael K. Williams became famous for his role as Omar Little in the television series The Wire and Chalky White in the series Boardwalk Empire. He was nominated for an Emmy Award this year for Best Supporting Actor in a Lovecraft County Series.

The actor had previously openly admitted to battling drug addiction for years, including during the filming of The Wire series, and said the role of Omar Little, who robbed dealers in the series, affected him in real life as well.
