Australian actor Hugh Jackman has confirmed on social media that his father Christopher John Jackman has passed away.

"In the early hours of Father's Day, my dad left. The grief is immeasurable, but I am filled with gratitude and love. My dad was extraordinary. He dedicated his life to family, work, and faith. Now I pray that he will be at peace with God," he wrote. Father’s Day in Australia is celebrated on the first Sunday in September.
The Daily Mail writes that Christopher raised Hugh and his two brothers, Ian and Ralph. Christopher's wife Grace left him and his sons when Hugh was eight. She left Australia for her native England and left her husband to take care of the children on his own.
"It was hard, I thought she would come back, but then it all kind of dragged on," Hugh once told foreign media about his mom, adding that he saw her once a year after she left and that his dad became his biggest support.
The actor's fans in comments on social media told him they were sorry and expressed their condolences.
