ADATA Elite SE880 SSD: Massive performance

The ADATA Elite SE880 is a high-performance external SSD with a USB 3.2 x2 interface. Its strength is matched by its portability, as its modest size (similar to that of a wireless headphone box) allows it to be taken anywhere in a pocket.

The widespread adoption of solid-state drives as the internal storage standard in personal computers has also been translated to external solutions. And is that the advantages of SSD over hard drives in terms of performance, space, and consumption are overwhelming in any circumstance.

Although our old hard drives can be utilized for external storage, there is no doubt that the new solutions have completely outperformed them in every metric except cost per GB.

With dimensions of 64 x 35 x 12 mm and a weight of 31 grams, it is portable. And utilize it in millions of PCs by having a USB port.

In terms of performance, the USB 3.2 Gen2 interface it employs allows data transfers to fly at up to 2,000 Mbytes per second in read and write modes, which is comparable to that offered by the best units on the market, such as the Samsung T7 SSD or the Extreme SSD SanDisk Pro Portable, whose original version (USB 3.2 Gen1) we thoroughly examined.

ADATA is also committed to simplicity and cost reduction, without incorporating or increasing complex services like encryption, IP protection, or fingerprint unlocking that others have.

The drive is plug-and-play and can be connected to practically any computer, including Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs, Android and iOS mobiles, consoles, cameras, and other devices, while also supporting USB 2.0.

This external and portable SSD will be available in several countries this week. It will come with a USB Type-C to Type-C C cable as well, a Type-C to Type-A cable for added versatility.

ADATA will sell it with a five-year warranty in two capacities: 500 Gbytes and 1 Tbyte. We'll have to wait to find out what the prices are.
