Alex Scott Admits She's A Proud Feminist
According to Alex Scott, society still has a long way to go toward attaining gender equality. "I am undoubtedly a proud
feminist, I always have been," the Football Focus broadcaster declared in an interview for our International Women's Day digital issue. We should all work for equality.
" Importance of conversation cannot be overstated, and we must continue to discuss it."
The former England footballer also praised her mother Carol, describing her as the most inspirational lady she knows. "She's tough, resilient, and sweet," Alex remarked.
The 37-year-popularity old's is rising, with Football Focus being one of her most recent hires after taking over from Dan Walker last year.
And, despite frequently being the target of sexist and social media abuse – Alex has previously stated that she was trolled every single day at one time and has taken Twitter breaks – the TV commentator now ignores her detractors and is more focused on leaving her imprint.
„I love going into the studio every Saturday and putting my own spin on it." Alex said
While the presenter may appear cool, calm, and collected in front of the cameras, Alex said that she still feels apprehensive as she walks down the red carpet.
"I enjoy my work and the energy of live TV, and I believe that joy comes through," the down-to-earth celebrity explained. "However, I'm still nervous on the red carpet. I have to give thanks to my incredible glam squad for those truly "showbiz" moments!"
Alex Scott MBE is a female football champion and one of the most accomplished women on the field.
During her mostly Arsenal career, she won eight league titles, seven FA Cups, the Champions League, and two Community Shields. Alex was also England's captain.
In 2017, Alex was included on the New Year's Honours list, the same year she retired from the game and became a commentator. She also established the Alex Scott Academy for female players.
"I'm single, but it's not like I need to find someone," Alex stated in 2019.
Alex was said to be in the running to succeed Sue Barker as host of BBC One's A Question of Sport in the summer of 2020, according to press sources.
Despite the lack of confirmation, Alex received critical feedback and online harassment from those who were dissatisfied with the adjustments.
Later, Alex tweeted: "Thanks to the kindness and support given to me yesterday, I'll be beaming all weekend #thankyou. Like usual, I'm going to #KeepOnKeepingOn!"
