The trip was canceled due to strong winds, and the actor (90) is rescheduled to soar into space on Wednesday. This will make William Shatner the oldest person to ever travel into space.

As Captain Kirk, he steered the USS Enterprise spacecraft on an intergalactic odyssey in "Star Trek", and will soon embark on his own odyssey, writes CNN.

"I've heard about space for a long time now. I'm taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle," Shatner said.

"I am thrilled, worried, a little bit nervous, and a little bit scared" he added.

Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin has announced that Shatner will be on the next flight together with Audrey Powers, the company's vice president.

Shatner, Powers, and two other crew members will take off from a remote part of West Texas, less than three months after the Blue Origin's first manned space flight.

The crew will enjoy four minutes of weightlessness during the suborbital journey, which will last a total of 11 minutes.

Jeff Bezos and his brother did the same this summer.
