Christian Bale Reveals Which Musician He Would Like To Play
He is the singer of a group that experienced its peak popularity in the eighties.
Christian Bale, star of "The Dark Knight" trilogy, "American Psycho," and many more films in his 36-year career, has revealed which singer he would most like to play in the film. It's Sean Ryder, the lead singer of Happy Mondays.
"He's always been a fascinating individual. I grew up listening to Happy Mondays and thought it would be cool to play (Shaun Ryder) "Bale told NME in an interview.
There are even whispers that a biopic about Happy Mondays is in the works. Unfortunately for Bale, Jack O'Connell will play Sean Ryder in this untitled film. Matt Greenhalgh will direct the film.
Bale has stated that he has already accepted the reality that he will not be playing Shaun Ryder.
"I'm probably too old now if they do it in his prime," Bale said.
Happy Mondays, by the way, is an English rock band that started in Salford in 1980. Sean Ryder (vocals), his brother Paul Ryder (bass), Gary Whelan (drums), Paul Davies (keyboards), and Mark Day (guitar) were the initial members. Later, as a dancer/percussionist, Mark "Bez" Berry joined the group on stage. In 1990, Roveta joined as a second vocalist.
The group's music bridged the gap between the 1980s Manchester indie rock movement and the growing UK rave scene, drawing influences from funk, house, and psychedelia to pioneer the Madchester sound.
With the releases of "Bummed" (1988), "Madchester Rave On" (1989), and "Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches" (1990), they hit their commercial pinnacle (1990). The band split up in 1993 and reassembled multiple times over the next few decades.
Bob Dylan is a fan of Wu-Tang Clan and Eminem
Bob Dylan acknowledged in a rare interview that he is a fan of Eminem and the Wu-Tang Clan, praising the two rap artists as well as a slew of other bands.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the singer-songwriter also discussed how he plays music, emphasizing that it comes to him "mainly by accident," before mentioning more than 20 musicians he has recently been listening to.
Dylan has stated that he "loves" Eminem and the Wu-Tang Clan. The singer-songwriter lauded them for their "sense for words and language", stating he appreciates "anyone whose vision equals 'his'". NME reports that Royal Blood, Celeste, Leonard Cohen, Rag N' Bone Man, and Nick Cave were among many who praised him.
Dylan previously referenced Eminem in a Time magazine interview in 2001. Bob admitted that he hasn't been listening to much of the rapper's songs, but that he was "doing something right."
