COURT INTRIGUE / Royal biographer claims: Lady Di is the 'third wheel' in Harry and Meghan's marriage
The author argues that her tragic death shaped Harry’s relationship with the rest of his family as well as with the general public
Princess Diana is "the third wheel" in the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, claims the royal expert, and her "spirit" hovers over the couple's life and defines their view of the world, writes the Mirror.
For both Harry and Meghan, “all roads lead back to Diana” and “every click and camera” reminds them of a “terrible fate,” the biographer said.
Andrew Morton, author of 'Diana: In Her Own Words,' said: "Today for Harry, and increasingly for his wife, all paths lead back to Diana."
The author argues that her tragic death shaped Harry’s relationship with the rest of his family as well as with the general public.
"As the Sussex embarked on their journey together through royal life, not a day went by without references, memories, or a decision that somehow related to Harry's late mother. Diana was the third wheel in their marriage."
'Princess Diana 2.0'
Morton, who also wrote a biography of the Duchess of Sussex, claims Meghan’s family friends said she “wants to be Princess Diana 2.0” and that, at 16, she was deeply shaken watching Diana’s funeral.
According to one childhood friend, Suzy Ardakani, Meghan would watch old videos of Diana and Prince Charles ’wedding, and the two girls - inspired by Diana’s humanitarian missions - would collect clothes and toys for less privileged children.
Suzy’s mother Sonia even gave Meghan a copy of Diana’s biography and she reportedly kept it on her bookshelves for several years.
He paid tribute to his mother's engagement
When the couple announced their engagement on November 27, 2017, Harry paid tribute to his mother. Meghan’s ring included small diamonds from Diana’s jewelry collection.
Harry and Meghan resigned from their royal duties in March 2020 and moved to California with their son Archie.
This summer they welcomed their daughter Lilibet Diana and named her in honor of both the Queen and Princess of Wales.
