Cynthia Nixon celebrated 10 years anniversary

The actress and activist got married after eight years of relationship, in New York.

Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni celebrated 10 years of marriage on May 27 this year. On that occasion, the famous actress from the series "Sex and the City" posted a joint photo with her chosen one, who is a very famous activist, and to whom she said a fateful "yes" in New York after eight years of relationship. “Ten years” - Cynthia briefly signed her post, then added a heart emoji and wedding date, and collected numerous likes, but also congratulations from friends and fans around the world.

Ten years ago, in a "Carolina Herrera" dress, the actress vowed to her longtime partner for eternal love in New York. At the time, Christine’s son Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni was only 15 months old. His biological father was not mentioned.  Cynthia, on the other hand, has sons Samuel and Charles, whom she got with photographer Danny Mozes, with whom she was in a relationship for 15 years.

Cynthia met Christine in 2002. Two years later, they started dating. They got engaged in 2009, at a rally held for the legalization of same-sex marriages.  “And how I enjoy being a fiancée. I won't mind even if it takes a while” - Cynthia told the local media in 2010, who was especially interested in her orientation.

I've been with men all my life and it never occurred to me to fall in love with a woman. But when it happened, it was not strange to me. I am simply a woman in love with a woman”- explained the one who endured this change much better than the character who made her famous, Miranda Hobbes.

Cynthia and Christina are one of the most powerful couples in New York. Christine is the first woman Nixon ever fell in love with and, still, the only one. First, she said that she was bisexual, and then she insisted that she was just and simple - a queer.

The fact that I fell in love with my current wife is one of the sweetest surprises in my life. It's not that any new door opened for me, I didn't feel that way. Quite simply, I was with different people for a long time, who were men. Now I love a woman and she is wonderful” - Cynthia once said.

Marinoni started her career as an activist after her friend became a victim of hate crimes. She opened a coffee shop that served the LGBTQ community. She often organized events with the staff in order to fight for rights after the incident, for voice and equality, and she certainly does that even today. She is equally passionate when it comes to education.

She studied economics and development at Columbia University. For a time, she worked in the office of former Mayor Bill de Blasio as a senior advisor for community partnerships. In 2018, she resigned to join her current wife’s campaign. When same-sex marriages were legalized in New York, they got married - on the roof of a building. Cynthia wore a dress, while Christina opted for a suit.
